How I Ditched My Walker in 6 Weeks

Ever regret a good ole stretch and twist that turned into muscle spasms? That happened to me in May of 2023. By July, I was barely able to walk around my house. I couldn't lie on a table to get acupuncture or chiropractic care. While I was waiting for my MRI my condition got much worse.
 
August 31, 2023 was the day I got my walker. It originally belonged to my Mor-Mor (Swedish for mother’s mother). I was so grateful to have wheels to help me get around. Hence the huge smile on my face, despite still being in incredible pain. 
 
I got cortisone shots in September and October of 2023 with little improvement. 

I used an inversion table everyday that did help a lot with disc compression, but the nerve pain shooting down my leg persisted. I spent too many days looking out the window wishing I could take a walk.

Blended Green Drink

*Totals 525 grams of greens (7 servings, 75 grams per serving)
100 grams Dandelion Greens
100 grams Collard Greens
100 grams Curly Kale
100 grams Dino Kale
100 grams Swiss Chard
25 grams Flat-leaf Parsley
12-16 ounces of fresh or pasteurized juice
*Optional 25 grams turmeric root to make it a Liver Shield blend
*Optional 1/2 tsp of mild oil (like olive, avocado) or aloe vera juice (serves as a surfactant to reduce foam from blending greens).
Rinse, wash, and spin your greens. There are some great vegetable washes out there that will kill bacteria with a 10 min soak. A baking soda or vinegar soak work in a pinch. You can use a spoon, vegetable scrubber or peeler to remove the skin from your turmeric root. 
Tear up your greens so they are in smaller chunks. Start with about 1 cup of juice or water in a 64 ounce high powered blender (like a Vitamix), a cup of ice and a handful of greens. Pulse blend until it's broken up. Add another handful of ice and greens. Pulse. 
Repeat until everything is in the blender. Blend on HIGH for 2-3 minutes, adding ice as you go to keep the mixture very cold. Do not let the mixture get hot or it will cause the greens to go bad faster. 
A half-serving is still effective! A half-serving a day is what got me back on my feet. 
If a full serving is too green for you, half a serving a day will still be effective (similar to our 45 Easy Grab-n-Go). Dilute it as much as you need to, adding a little water makes a big difference. It shouldn't be a thick smoothie you need to choke down, it should be light and refreshing, and dare I say, a little boring.
This mixture freezes well, even in mason jars (don't fill it up, and leave the top loose). Put half in the freezer, half in the fridge, and finish it in 7 days. Share with your pets, they love fresh greens too.
